Under Ground Drainage for Seamless Gutters in Northwest Ohio

OK... so now you have a properly working seamless gutter system installed on your Ohio home. All done... right? Not so fast!

If your gutter system is not installed to a drainage system that properly routes rainwater safely away from your foundation, basement, or crawl space, serious and costly damage could be happening to your biggest investment.
Water causing damage to foundation.

Your gutter and downspout system collects rainwater from your roof and discharges it to a concentrated area. Sometimes here in Northwest Ohio there is storm sewer tile or field tile for you to route the rainwater directly to streams and rivers. When that is not an option, the rainwater is normally  discharged above ground using the downspout or tile.

There are several problems that arise when routing rainwater above ground.

  • Does not route water far enough away from your house foundation/basement.
  • In the way of mowing, walking, and frankly just an eyesore!
  • Easily smashed or broken. (Restricts water flow.)

An alternate solution is to install your seamless gutters and downspouts to an Under Ground Emitter System. This will allow you to route the rainwater away from your home under ground to a safe point in your lawn. Since it is underground, you don't see it, you won't break or smash it, and you can easily mow and walk by.

Another feature of this system is the environmental impact. The rain water emits into the yard and soaks into the ground keeping the water on your property to irrigate the grass, trees, and shrubbery with nutrient filled rainwater, while at the same time lowering the water bill and allowing more time for the things you want to do. Installing under ground downspout emitters will also help to prevent flooding of our streams and rivers by reducing the speed and amount of water entering them. If installed on a 2,000 square foot home, our under ground emitters will keep approximately 600 gallons of water from reaching the streams and rivers in a 1" rain.  You could also collect this water using our rain water collection/harvesting systems.  We will dive into that in another post.

This is a great/cost effective solution for existing drainage tile that has either become plugged or smashed.
